Term 4 – Connect, Create, and Learn With Us

Kia ora koutou

We hope you are ready for a burst of creativity, culture, and connection, because we are! We’re thrilled to share some of our Term 4 programmes coming up over the next 12 weeks, especially the new programmes launching this term.

What’s Happening This Term

We’ve listened closely to our community, and this term offers something for everyone; young and old, beginners and seasoned makers. Here’s a taste of what’s coming:

  • Our popular Colour Lab series for children is filling fast, with up to 32 spots available. Be sure to book this week to avoid missing out. The Art Room is our Youth Space where participants will flex their creative muscles, create social connections and thrive.
  • We’re delivering our always popular adult classes, including:
    • Abstract Mondays with Monique. You will use a cool variety of materials and techniques. This will help you create art pieces inspired by a range of abstract artists.
    • Exploring Art with Valentine – a adult night class that focuses on painting and how different techniques are used to create masterpieces
    • Toi Maaori – a visual arts programme focused on traditional Māori patterns with Monique.
    • Handbuilt Pottery will be a fun opportunity to learn about working with clay. Our experienced tutor David Kenny will guide you through your journey.
    • Te Reo Maaori for Beginners is a great class to start your reo journey.
  • Raranga is back in the whare with a 4-week programme led by our new tutor, Ngamane Stanley. This course focuses on harakeke preparation and the weaving techniques of Kete Mahi.
  • Our very own Poto will be bringing a 6-week Toi Māori programme to term 4 – Contemporary Raranga and Taaniko. Participants will create two hangable art pieces using modern materials while showcasing the beauty of Māori design.
  • Our Rongoaa Maaori class returns with an 8-week programme full of learning and making. Each week, you’ll take home a new rongoaa created in class. This is a special opportunity for those wanting to explore traditional healing practices through hands-on experience.
  • Art, Aroha and Autism will also be returning. We’re making a few changes to the format and will share updates with you soon.
  • Save the Date – our Night Market is on the 5th of December. We will also have our exhibition opening on the same night. This will be a great event for the whole whaanau.
