NGĀ ART, which operates out of the old Masonic building at 18 Herschel Street in Ngaruawahia organises major cultural and creative Ngaruawahia events.

This years events are:

Tiaho Mai – Matariki ki NGĀ ART – JULY 2024

Join us for a captivating exhibition that brings the stars of Matariki to life in a unique and immersive way.

Tiaho Mai – Matariki ki NGĀ ART showcases the rich narratives of the nine Matariki stars through traditional, contemporary, and futuristic lenses, blending the past, present, and future of Māori culture.

Don’t miss this opportunity to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future. Bring your whānau and friends to experience the magic of Matariki through art, culture, and community. Admission is by koha.

OPENING TIMES:

Tiaho Mai – Matariki ki NGĀ ART will be open to the public on the following dates and times:

4 July 2024 from 630pm to 9pm is our opening event. If you cannot make the opening night, don’t worry as we will be open the following times:

5th July 10am – 5pm

6th & 7th July 1pm to 5pm

8th & 9th July 10am to 5pm

10th & 11th July 10am to 8pm

12th July 10am to 5pm

13th & 14th July 1pm to 5pm

Art encourages community cohesion and reduces isolation. It makes us aware of the world around us and how we influence and react to each other. The value of art in society is too great to quantify. It not only proves who we are, but it educates us about our past and where we are today as a species.
