Hear Us Live! A Youth Week Event for Our Whole Community

This Youth Week, we invite our community to come together to listen, support, and celebrate the voices of our rangatahi at Hear Us Live! a youth‑led open mic and creative jam night.

Hear Us Live! creates a safe, inclusive, and uplifting space where taiohi can share their creativity through spoken word, poetry, music, rap, storytelling, comedy, visual projection, and collaborative jam sessions. It’s a chance for young people to stand up, take the mic, and be heard; many for the first time.

We know our local rangatahi are full of talent, whakaaro, and lived experience, but opportunities to perform publicly in Ngāruawāhia can be limited. This free, accessible event removes barriers and builds confidence, connection, and belonging for young people in Ngāruawāhia.

We warmly encourage whānau and community members to attend! Come along not just to watch, but to show support, aroha, and encouragement. Your presence matters. When adults show up to listen, youth feel valued, seen, and empowered.

The night will finish with a collaborative jam circle where all young people are welcome to join in music or kōrero, reinforcing the Youth Week message: Taringa whakarongo! Ki te reo o ngā taiohi – Our voices matter. We deserve to be heard.

If you are a rangatahi who wants to perform, or a parent or caregiver with a young person who would benefit from experiencing live youth performance in a supportive environment, we encourage you to register and come along.

Let’s show our youth that their voices matter and that our community is listening.
