As we reflect on this year’s Matariki season, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported, attended, and celebrated alongside us here at NGĀ ART.
Our Matariki ki Au Exhibition was a wonderful success, bringing together creativity, connection, and reflection as we honoured this special time of year. It was inspiring to see so many members of our community walk through our doors, engage with the artworks, and share in the wairua of Matariki. The exhibition became a space where stories, culture, and creativity could shine together.
We were also excited to launch our new Art Café Series, a fresh style of workshop designed to bring people together in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The response was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see participants creating, connecting, sharing ideas, and simply enjoying the creative process. We look forward to offering more opportunities like these in the future.
Together, these events were a beautiful way to celebrate Matariki and the beginning of a new year.

Term 3 Has Started!
Term 3 classes began today, and we still have a handful of spaces available across several programmes. If you’ve been thinking about learning something new, developing your creative skills, or simply making time for yourself through the arts, now is the perfect opportunity.

Writers Space – Sunday 26 July | 11.00am – 1.00pm
Are you a storyteller, a poet, a notebook scribbler, or someone who’s always wanted to give writing a go? Join us at NGĀ ART Writers Space – a warm and welcoming creative community where writers of all levels come together to explore words, share ideas, and grow their voice.
Bring a piece to share, a notebook to write in, or simply come along and listen. Over a cuppa and good company, we create space for creativity, encouragement, and inspiration.
Weavers Open Studio – Sunday 2 August | 10.00am – 3.30pm
If you are looking for a comfortable, supportive, and relaxing environment to work on your mahi, then this is the perfect time and place for you. Bring along your current project, connect with fellow weavers, exchange ideas, and enjoy a day immersed in creativity. Whether you’re experienced or just beginning your weaving journey, all are welcome.
NEW! Jam Nights at NGĀ ART – Friday 14 August | 5.30pm – 8.30pm
We’re excited to launch Jam Nights, a casual drop-in creative music session for adults. There is no formal structure – just good vibes, shared creativity, and a welcoming atmosphere. You can jump in, observe, collaborate, or simply enjoy being around other creatives. Bring your instrument, your voice, or just yourself. Whether you’re a seasoned musician or just starting out, Jam Nights is a safe and supportive space.
